Welcome To The 'IT' Campaign Homepage

'IT' stands for 'Integrating Transport'. By using all of the methods of transport available to us in a sensible manner we can help to reduce the congestion on our roads. We all know how easy it is to fall into the trap of using the car for every journey. For example, many of us are guilty of jumping into a car for a short trip that could be walked in ten minutes.

The concept of 'IT' has been developed by Lancashire County Council to reinforce the TravelWise message. TravelWise is a national campaign that encourages people to make better use of cars and promotes the use of public transport, cycling and walking.

The aim of the campaign is to:

  • Raise the profile and ongoing work of TravelWise

  • Increase awareness of sustainable transport choices in the Lancaster & Morecambe area

  • Get the TravelWise message into as many homes and businesses as possible using various promotional initatives.

The IT campaign will be launched on the 12th January and will last for 10 weeks. Each week of the campaign has a key theme and will highlight different aspects of sustainable travel.

Week 1General Campaign Introduction
Week 2Buses are getting better
Week 3Commuting by public transport
Week 4Trains
Week 5Walking and health benefits
Week 6Public transport and green issues
Week 7Education
Week 8Travelwise Facts and Statistics
Week 9Leisure
Week 10Cycling

There will also be a chance for businesses to get involved in the week by taking part in the Corporate Challenge

Behind all the fun there is a serious message to the week. Changing your travel habits is a lifestyle change that will enhance your quality of life by reducing air pollution and increasing health benefits, saving you money and cutting congestion and accidents on our roads. Everyone who takes part in the IT campaign will make a difference. Just remember a small change can make a big difference. To find out more have a look though the links.
