Storey Institute, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster

The movement of people and goods has been a prime concern of mankind since earliest times and we have become increasingly clever at moving large quantities of people and goods over ever decreasing distances, at ever increasing speeds and forever decreasing monetary costs. But the social cost of transport has become one of the biggest causes for concern over the last few decades. This series of lectures looks at the alternative means of transport, for daily life and leisure, and what we could do to make them work.

Friday 27th February Cycling - it must be mainstream. Lecturer - Steve Essex
Friday 5th March Trains and Tourism. Lecturer - Jim Trotman
Friday 12th March A 'Brief Encounter' with Carnforth. Lecturer - Rick Patterson
